HISTORY

The LVRS Rescue Squad was granted a state charter in July 25, 2000. It also received its FDID through the State Fire Marshals Office. The squad was formed by volunteers to provide much needed services that had a response delay up to 20 -25 minutes from county agencies response from Charleston. In the unincorporated portion of Charleston County where the county did not provide fire protection, the squad assisted and provided First Responder Services to the community. Since 2000 the squad has provided thousands of fire/ rescue responses in the tri-county Charleston area to assist Fire, EMS, Police, Sheriffs Departments, State and other local agencies. The squad is supported by funding from volunteer members, fund raisers, community grants, corporate donations and County of Charleston. We are located in the hub of the tricounty area between North Charleston And Summerville in northern Charleston County & Lower Dorchester County South Carolina. Members are trained in Technical Rescue, Water rescue, Watercraft, Land and Marine Firefighting and Medical First Responder. Team Members are citizens of Charleston and Dorchester County volunteering the time required to train and preform rescue operations if called for a mission. The team was created and operates under the direction of Chief Gantt
