Lowndes County Wildlife Federation
Educational

The regularly scheduled meeting for the Lowndes County Wildlife Federation was held Tuesday, March 20, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by club president Fred Ellis, and the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance was led by Don Burns.
Fred Ellis addressed the club first, asking that if anyone had any prayer requests to either speak up at the appropriate time during the meeting, or to let him or any other club officers or board members know, so that the requests can be added to prayer lists at churches attended by the officers, board members, and club members.
He then mentioned two non-members who were spotted fishing on a lake on LCWF land. He reminded members that when they see someone they don't recognize on club property to politely ask if they are club members or if they have permission from the land owner to be there. If they are non-members, or if they do not have the land owner's permission to be there, courteously ask them to leave. If you run into any difficulty, dial 911 and ask to be put in contact with Bo Harris,MDWFP Officer,or contact our club Game Warden, Bob Moore. Please be sure to get a description and tag number of the trespasser's vehicle, and a description of the trespassers themselves, as this will greatly aid Mr. harris and Mr. Moore in locating these offenders. It is also important any time club members see gates on club property left open that they close and lock these gates , and that any gates that have been vandalized, that are missing locks, or that are in disrepair be reported to any one of the club officers or board members. He also mentioned that now that the weather is getting nice and turkey hunting is in full swing, everyone is urged to keep an eye out for snakes.
Ron Loveday spoke next, welcoming the new members to the club. This year's new members are Billy Colson, Bob Deschimdt, James Hall, Lamar Haynes, Mark Hightower, Greg Loveday, Justin Short, Daran Stone and Doug Young. We all join with Ron in welcoming these men to our club.
Charles Petty addressed the club, letting members know that the rate paid for tractor work by members has been increased, from $10.00 to $12.00 an hour, due to increasing fuel prices. He also asked that anyone with a tractor, whirlybird or disc that can help with the tractor work on the workday scheduled for Saturday, March 24, either spreading lime, or with any tractor work throughout the season, please contact him, or any other board member or club officer.
Chap Browne followed Mr. Petty, telling the club that club finances are still in good shape. There are camoflage hats and orange vests with the club logo on them available for purchase at $5.00 each. If any club member wants a badge made for a spouse ,children, or grandchildren, there is a list available at the meetings. Write your badge number , followed by the first names only that you want on the badge, and he wil get them made as quickly as possible. Every member is urged to attend the April meeting, as the member badges and decals wil be passed out at that meeting. Mr. Browne then asked anyone who turned in any membership applications prior to the January meeting resubmit them, as they have been lost. He repeated that applications for new membership are acepted in the following order: first, children of current members are considered, next considered are the grandchildren of current members, then returning (former) club members, and, lastly, new applicants are considered for membership. The last item he mentioned was that there will be a "to-do" list available at each meeting. If any member has noticed work needing to be done on club property, they can add these items to the list. Fred Ellis then stood and dismissed the meeting.
The mailing address for the club is as follows: Lowndes County Wildlife Federation 1835 Hwy 45 North Columbus MS 39705
